A simple way to protect migrating birds: Turn lights off at night

The plea from Audubon N.C. follows a study last year that estimated more than 1 billion birds are killed in collisions with buildings in the U.S. annually. It cites artificial lights at night and reflective windows as causes 鈥� they confuse birds that use the light from stars to migrate.
