The U.S. Open begins at the Pinehurst No. 2 golf course today. վ’s Jeff Tiberii is covering the event.
91 partly cloudy Chance of thunderstorms. How's your office today?

Tiberii says a recent overhaul leaves Pinehurst No. 2 “rustic, restored and ragged." It’s more water efficient – and less green – than the courses gold pros are used to playing on. Tiberii reports there’s no tall grass next to the fairway, but the greens will still be fast and tough.
Some of the biggest names in the sport are at Pinehurst. Justin Rose is the defending champion, but Adam Scott is expected to give him a run for his money. Raleigh-native Webb Simpson won the Open in 2012 and is taking another try, and despite recent lackluster performance, Phil Mickelson is chasing his career Grand Slam this time around.
