Hosts Dave DeWitt and Leoneda Inge report on the effort to rename a building on the campus of a North Carolina university, and why faculty leading that charge say the change will help undo a harmful history in the South.

Is there a right way to pay tribute to someone who was highly influential in their time?

Is there a right way to know if that person's ideas and influence will be worth celebrating decades later?

In Renamed, a documentary special from ¼ª²ÊÍøÍøÕ¾, journalists Leoneda Inge and Dave DeWitt take us on a virtual visit to a building on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Some people who work inside that building say what's on the outside amounts to celebrating a longstanding injustice and an . But they have an idea for one step that could be taken to right a historical wrong.

Dave DeWitt is ¼ª²ÊÍøÍøÕ¾'s Supervising Editor for Politics and Education. As an editor, reporter, and producer he's covered politics, environment, education, sports, and a wide range of other topics.
Leoneda Inge is the co-host of ¼ª²ÊÍøÍøÕ¾'s "Due South." Leoneda has been a radio journalist for more than 30 years, spending most of her career at ¼ª²ÊÍøÍøÕ¾ as the Race and Southern Culture reporter. Leoneda’s work includes stories of race, slavery, memory and monuments. She has won "Gracie" awards, an Alfred I. duPont Award and several awards from the Radio, Television, Digital News Association (RTDNA). In 2017, Leoneda was named "Journalist of Distinction" by the National Association of Black Journalists.
