After Innocence: Exoneration In America
00000177-6edd-df44-a377-6fff43300000Hundreds, possibly thousands of people in the U.S. have been wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit. Some of them spent decades behind bars or on death row before being declared innocent. Many of them still remain imprisoned.The Innocence Network is an affiliation of organizations that work to free innocent people from prison. In April 2013, over 100 exonerees gathered in Charlotte for the Innocence Network Conference. 吉彩网网站 sat down with ten exonerees to hear about their experiences for the After Innocence: Exoneraton In America web series. Gloria Killian was a a 35 year old law school student in the 1980鈥檚 when she was convicted of murder and sentenced to 32 years to life in prison.  Gloria claimed her innocence from the outset.  After 17 and a half years her conviction was overturned.

Also in this show, Ray Towler, exonerated by DNA evidence. Brian Banks, exonerated and signed with football鈥檚 Atlanta Falcons. John Thompson, freed after prosecutor鈥檚 deathbed admission of suppression of evidence.

Before coming to North Carolina Public Radio to host The Story, Dick Gordon was host of The Connection, a daily national call-in talk show produced in Boston, from 2001 to 2005. Gordon is well-known in the profession as an experienced, seasoned journalist with an extensive background in both international and domestic reporting. He was a war correspondent and back-up host for the CBC's This Morning, a national current affairs radio program. An award winning journalist, he has also served as a Parliamentary reporter, Moscow correspondent and South Asia correspondent for both radio and television.
