In the NFL, the Carolina Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-17 yesterday.
Quarterback Derek Anderson started in place of Cam Newton. Newton was sidelined while that left him with two fractures in his lower back.
Anderson threw for 277 yards and a touchdown, and Graham Gano kicked four field goals.

The Panthers are still alive in the NFC Southern Division playoff race.
They will host the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
