In the NFL, the Carolina Panthers didn't put up much of a fight yesterday. They lost, 38-to-17, to the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay racked up a 21-to-0 lead in the first quarter.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera says the team gave up the scoreboard early on and never got in the game.

鈥淚 don't think the defense gave us an opportunity to win in the first quarter, and I'm disappointed,鈥� Rivera says.

鈥淲e had opportunities to stop them, and unfortunately, we allowed them to get the first score off of the first drive when we had opportunities to get off the field. That's what was disappointing, more than anything else.鈥�

To make matters worse, Panthers Line Backer Luke Kuechley was ejected for elbowing a referee after a scrum for the ball.

Quarterback Cam Newton had 41 yards rushing on seven attempts. He passed for 205 yards the Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers will host the Seakhawks next weekend.
