A newly released video shows Congressman Madison Cawthorn鈥檚 March 3 traffic stop in Cleveland County. A North Carolina State Trooper notifies Cawthorn he was pulled over for expired tags. But after running a records check, the Trooper returns to revoke Cawthorn鈥檚 license.
鈥淎lright David we got a little problem, it shows your license is suspended for an out of state ticket,鈥� says the state trooper in the video.
Cawthorn replies: "Is that so? I did not know that.鈥�
The audio is a bit hard to make out 鈥� but Cawthorn says he wasn鈥檛 aware that his license was suspended. The trooper issued Cawthorn a ticket with a May 6th court date, took his driver鈥檚 license and Cawthorn鈥檚 passenger took over the wheel.
The video was released after including Blue Ridge Public Radio filed a complaint seeking its release. This is the most recent in a number of traffic violations and other allegations since Cawthorn has been in office.
